Southern Lancaster Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a shredding event on Friday, April 22, at GR Mitchell, 14 Beaver Valley Pike, Willow Street, from 1 to 4 p.m. or until the truck reaches capacity.

Business, organizations and residents can bring confidential, paper-based materials for shredding, courtesy of Tri-State Shredding. Newspapers, magazines and paper for which privacy is not an issue will not be accepted. Items containing metal or plastic are prohibited. All shredded material will be recycled.

Organizers ask that bulk shredding - material in excess of 10 containers - be dropped off by 12:30 p.m., although it will be accepted until 3 p.m. Prior notification of bulk shredding is appreciated. Bulk items will be shredded during lulls in activity or at the close of the event, and all shredding will be completed before the truck leaves the property.

There is a minimum donation per container, and all proceeds from this event will fund scholarships for graduating seniors from Solanco, Lampeter-Strasburg and Penn Manor high schools.
