Cemetery Sets Tea Event, Guided Tours

In observance of the 300th anniversary of the founding of Columbia as Wright's Ferry, several activities will be held on the grounds of Mount Bethel Cemetery, 700 Locust St., Columbia, on Saturday, June 27.

"Tea With Susanna Wright," a high tea event hosted by costumed portrayer Janet Wood, will be held at 1 p.m. Tickets are limited. Reservations for the tea must be made prior to Saturday, June 20, at http://www.susqnha.org/events.

One-hour guided tours of the oldest section of the cemetery - where the town founders and other notable residents are interred - will take place at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Chris Vera, president of the Columbia Historic Preservation Society, will be on hand in this area of the cemetery to share tidbits of knowledge and interesting stories. The tours are free, but reservations are required at the aforementioned website.
