Celebrating Autumn

Terre Hill Plans Second FallFest

"We started it last year (in 2020), since Terre Hill Days was canceled (due to COVID-19 restrictions)," said John Styer, coordinator of the Terre Hill Community Park FallFest. "People were looking to get out again. It was so well received, we thought we would have it again."

The second Terre Hill Park FallFest will take place on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Terre Hill Park, 210 Lancaster Ave. The event will feature more than 20 craft and home party vendors, food, live music, hayrides, and more. The rain date for the FallFest will be Sunday, Oct. 10. There is no charge for admission or parking.

Many of the activities in the park will be free, including a bounce house, a Kids' Corn Pit featuring two tons of corn, detailed face painting by Joyful Canvas, barrel train rides, and games such as cornhole and a giant Connect Four.

A variety of entertainment will be provided. Styer noted that he has lined up a scarecrow stilt walker, and a chain saw carver will create a sculpture on site. Papa Tater will perform illusions, and live music will feature Cody Tyler & Gypsy Convoy from 4 to 8 p.m.

The pavilion food stand will be open to offer special fall selections including soups and sandwiches. Styer noted that desserts will include apple dumplings and pumpkin-flavored soft-serve ice cream. "We will also have a coffee stand with fall-themed coffees and lattes," said Styer. Food trucks selling funnel cakes and french fries will be present.

According to Styer, many sponsors have allowed the group to offer free activities, but there will be a cost for some activities such as pumpkin painting and carnival games, including a cake wheel. The event will benefit the Terre Hill Park, and there will be opportunities to donate to that cause, along with prizes and giveaways.

Styer noted that organizers are thinking of the safety of attendees. "We will use the whole park so there will be plenty of room to space out," he said, noting that he expects the weather to cooperate with the early October date. "It's such a nice time of year to have it," he stated.
