Celebrate Community at Pleasant View

Community Day is a wonderful opportunity to bring together our entire Pleasant View community - residents, staff, families, friends and neighbors - for a day filled with live music, great food and fun," said Aubrey Smith, community engagement coordinator for Pleasant View Communities.

The public is invited to the annual event, which will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at 2100 Town Square North, 544 N. Penryn Road, Manheim.

Highlights of the day will include food, animals, tractor rides and Lancaster Mobile Mini Golf. Face painting and balloon art will be provided by Joyful Canvas.

The festivities will also include a car show with vintage and memorable cars. Both the car show and The Unwavering Cup coffee cart will be at the Kreider Farms Cultural Center, 547 N. Penryn Road.

The Cultural Center is also the new location of the Manheim Community Library, which moved to the site in April of last year.

"The Cultural Center is owned by Pleasant View, which rents to the library for the price of 'one book a year,'" Smith said. "A book ceremony will take place at the library during Community Day."

The Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department and the Penryn Fire Company will also be present at Community Day. Charlie's Crusaders will have adoptable dogs, and Precious Paws Community Cats will have adoptable cats. Esther's Collectibles Thrift Boutique, located in the Town Square North building on the campus, will also be open.

The Main Street Cruisers will perform live music, sponsored by Stray Production Services of Lititz.

Food will be available from the on-site restaurant Hearth & Harrow, both in the restaurant and at a concession stand. Treats from Twisted Sisters ice cream truck will also be available, as well as 300 chocolate milks donated by Kreider Farms.

The Auxiliary of Pleasant View will have a Peters' BBQ chicken sale at Community Day. Proceeds benefit residents in all levels of care at Pleasant View. Preorders are recommended by Friday, May 8. A limited number of extra meals and half-chickens will be available at Community Day until sold out. The meal will include a half-chicken, a baked potato, applesauce, a roll and butter and water. Order forms are available at the Pleasant View reception desk or online at https://pvcommunities.org/events.

The auxiliary will also have 70th anniversary cookbooks and Riptide Car Wash tickets for sale.

Smith noted the purpose of Community Day is to help Pleasant View Communities build relationships with people outside the campus.

"It offers something for everyone, creating a meaningful experience where all ages can connect and enjoy time together," she said. "Best of all, it provides families and the public with a free, engaging event while strengthening community relationships and showcasing the spirit of Pleasant View."

Community Day will be held rain or shine. In the event of rain, activities will move inside the Kreider Farms Cultural Center. The event is free to attend, but cash is needed for food and vendor purchases. For more information, visit the aforementioned website.
