CASA Sets Community Awareness Day

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties will host a Community Awareness Day on Friday, April 29. Community members are invited to join CASA at a breakfast in Lebanon and a luncheon in Lancaster. Both events are free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The Community Awareness Breakfast will be held from 8 to 9 a.m. at the Lebanon Country Club, 3375 Oak St., Lebanon. To register, visit http://www.CASAbreakfast.givesmart.com.

The Awareness Luncheon will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Barn at Stoner Commons, 605 Granite Run Drive, Lancaster. To register, visit http://www.CASALuncheon.givesmart.com.

At both events, CASA of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties will share its mission of providing a qualified and compassionate court-appointed volunteer advocate to every child who is abused and neglected and placed in foster care in Lancaster and Lebanon counties.

Since its inception in Lancaster County in 2009, CASA has trained 491 volunteer community advocates, who have provided advocacy and worked one-on-one with over 1,000 children in foster care. CASA is expanding its program into Lebanon County this year and is recruiting its first training class of volunteer advocates to work with youths in Lebanon County. Details are available at http://www.casalancaster.org.

During April, National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month, CASA is focused on bringing awareness to the work of its CASA volunteers and the youths in foster care whom it serves.
