Car Show Part of Harmony Day Celebration

Harmony Day, which will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 20, in Honey Brook, will feature activities at many local venues as well as community-wide yard sales. Held for the first time during Harmony Day will be the fall car show of the Draggin' Wagons Car Club, which will take place at Calvary Chapel of Honey Brook, 5011 Horseshoe Pike, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The club holds car shows twice each year - one in spring and one in fall. "We have normally had a fall show, but it was never in conjunction with Harmony Day," noted club member Ray Marvin. "We thought it would be a good time. The church suggested it when we asked if we could try a fall show at their parking lot."

Marvin reported that the spring show was held at Jerry's Pizza Pie, which is located across the street from Calvary Chapel. "It was an overcast day with some rain showers, but we had around 50 cars plus about 20 cars (from local car clubs) and a large amount of spectators," he noted. "It was a great day and a lot of fun for all who attended."

Vehicle owners of all makes and models are invited to participate in the upcoming show, including classic, antique and custom vehicles; street rods; muscle cars; antique cars; motorcycles; and trucks.

Those who choose to display their vehicles will be asked to make a registration donation. Registration will take place on the day of the show. There will be no admission fee for spectators, but the club asks that all guests bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Honey Brook Food Pantry.

At the upcoming event, trophy winners will be selected in a variety of classes, and there will be Club President's Choice Award.

A DJ will play oldies music, and there will be an opportunity for attendees to win gift baskets. Food and beverage items will also be available for purchase.

Proceeds from the upcoming car show will benefit local charities, including Steeple to People Ministries in Honey Brook.
