Car Show Has New Date, New Location

When rain forced the cancelation of its spring car show in May, the Draggin' Wagons Car Club not only had to schedule a new date, but it also had a find a new venue.

The show will now be held on Sunday, July 27, from noon to 4 p.m. at the recently opened new location of Jerry's Pizza Pie, 5004 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322).

"All our shows used to be on Sunday, so we went back to the Sunday show format," explained club member Ray Marvin. "We used to have the car shows at the Kemper building behind Wimpy & Dee's on the first Sunday in May (for the spring show) and the fourth Sunday in September (for the fall show). Kemper got too busy, and they needed the parking lot for equipment. We're excited to still be in Honey Brook. It worked out."

On the day of the car show, Jerry's will not be open for business. However, there will be a food truck on hand at the car show and a sale of ice cream.

Vehicles owners of all makes and models are invited to participate. The show will welcome classic, antique and custom vehicles, including street rods, muscle cars, antique cars, motorcycles and trucks.

Parking will be available in the pizza shop parking lot and the neighboring lots. "Jerry's Pizza Pie moved in June to the new building on Route 322," noted Marvin. "The hardware store, which is closed on Sunday, and Hoover (Building Specialists) gave us permission to expand."

Those who choose to display their vehicles at the upcoming show will be asked to make a registration donation. Registration will take place on the day of the show. There will be no admission fee for spectators, but the club asks that all guests bring nonperishable food items for donation to the Honey Brook Food Pantry.

At the upcoming event, trophy winners will be selected in nontraditional classes such as Chopped and Dropped, Cool Convertible, Cool Commercial, Cool Custom, Great Graphics, Street Sleeper, Hottest Hot Rod, Cool Coupe and more.

A DJ will play oldies music, and there will be an opportunity for attendees to win gift baskets.

Proceeds from the upcoming car show will benefit local charities, including Steeple to People Ministries in Honey Brook.

The Draggin' Wagons Car Club, which has more than 60 members, meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Honey Brook Lions Club, 14 Mount Pleasant Road, Honey Brook, with the exception of December, when the club holds its annual holiday dinner. At the March meeting, the club members nominate and vote on the nonprofit organizations that they will support in the coming year.

Membership forms and packets of information about the club will be available at the upcoming car show for prospective members. It is not necessary to own a classic car to become a club member.

Weaver added that the club's fall car show will take place on Harmony Day in September.
