York Catholic High School's Gavin Bonner has received an appointment to the United States Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.

Bonner is an honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. He received recognition for excellence in mathematics, and he won the Rotary Youth Leadership Award. Bonner is a member of Student Council, Student Ambassadors, ski club, chess club, and Spanish club. He participates in soccer, lacrosse, and track and field. He is an Eagle Scout.

Bonner plans to study nuclear engineering at the academy. He is the son of Ken and Diane Bonner of Wrightsville.
