Matthew Beck has been selected as the Elizabethtown Lions Club's Lancaster County Career and Technology Center (LCCTC) Student of the Month for October. He is enrolled in the electrical construction technology program at LCCTC's Brownstown campus. Prior to entering the program, Matthew completed the Introduction to Construction Careers program at the Mount Joy campus.

Matthew was nominated by his electrical construction technology instructor, Mr. Myers, for his outstanding academic achievement and the skills he demonstrates in the lab. He was recognized for being a hardworking and dedicated student who consistently stays on top of his assignments. Matthew said he credits his teachers and parents with encouraging him and pushing him to pursue his goals. He added that being selected as the Student of the Month is meaningful because it acknowledges his hard work and the effort he has put into achieving his goals.

Matthew has earned honor roll recognition at both Elizabethtown Area High School and LCCTC. He is active in SkillsUSA and has been involved in athletics throughout high school, including football and track and field. Matthew takes great pride in his Brazilian heritage and hopes to someday return to Brazil, where his father's side of the family is from and where many of his family members still reside.

Following graduation, Matthew may attend Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology to continue his technical education or he may enter the workforce as an electrician.
