Baton Twirlers Score High Marks At Competition

Students from Paula's School of Baton in Mount Joy recently participated in the Drum Majorettes of America National Competition 2022, which was held in Aiken, S.C., from July 16 to 20. Teams from the studio won a total of 17 first and second places at the event.

Students at the baton studio participated in both team and individual competitions. The senior team took National Outstanding awards in pom, dance and dance twirl. The senior strut team also claimed a National Outstanding award. The Overall National Outstanding Team was awarded to the senior dance twirl team.

In addition, there were many individual champions this year, including the following: Lucia Angeles, Mount Joy, Teen Majorette Queen; Madyson Derr, Maytown, Petite Majorette Princess and Juvenile National All-Star Elite Champion; Sidney Berntheizel, Columbia, National Pom Girl; Hailey Ginder, Manheim, Senior National All-Star Elite Champion and National Senior Halftime Champion; Maggie Rogers, Columbia, Senior National All-Star Champion; Allie Clark, Lancaster, National Halftime Elite Champion; Rylee Cornelius, Maytown, Novice Princess 11-12; Maycee Kuhns, Manheim, Little Majorette Princess; and Khloe Klessinger, Mount Joy, Novice Princess 9-10.

Paula's School of Baton, 8 W. Main St., Mount Joy, will have an open house for fall registration on Thursday, Aug. 25, and Friday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m.
