Band Concert to Focus on Marches

The New Holland Band will present the third edition of "The Art of the March" on Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. Once on campus, attendees should follow the directional signs.

The program will concentrate on the marches of John Philip Sousa, known as "The March King." It will include some of Sousa's most well-known compositions, including "The Black Horse Troop," "El Capitan," "Hands Across the Sea," and "The Thunderer," along with Sousa's arrangement of "The Honored Dead." The band will share the stories behind the compositions. Sousa composed more than 125 marches.
