Arts Festival planned in Hummelstown

Hummelstown's 41st annual Arts Festival will take place along the borough's Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festival will feature more than 50 new vendors, more than 150 juried artists, a food court, a children's area and live entertainment.

The children's area will have a variety of crafts and activities, including balloon art, sandy candy, balloon yo-yos, face painting by students from Lower Dauphin High School's National Art Honor Society, along with crafts and activities by the Hummelstown Parks & Recreational Board and Emergency Management Agencies as well as the Dauphin County Library. Additionally, local Boy Scouts will display their Lego race track.

Music will be provided all day by DJ Bill Runkle, and the Hershey School of Dance will perform at 1 p.m. on the square. Members of the Lower Dauphin Thespian Society will be in character to entertain and provide an activity throughout the day.

Proceeds from the annual fundraiser will benefit college scholarships. Each year, the Robert M. Nisley Memorial Scholarship is awarded to Lower Dauphin seniors who have exhibited excellent character and have been accepted into a degree program to major or minor in the visual and performing arts or music.

For safety reasons, no dogs, skateboards or bicycles will be permitted during the festival.
