On Saturday, Jan. 27, the Milanof-Schock Library will be overflowing with local art.

The Donegal Student Art Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy. It will showcase art from students in kindergarten through grade 12.

"There will be a variety of artwork, from 2D drawings and paintings to 3D sculptures," said Stephanie Funk, operations coordinator for the library.

The show will be held in the community room of the library and will offer visitors an opportunity to see the work up close while also interacting with the artists.

"We generally do have students that come out to talk with the community about their artwork," Funk shared. "There will be an opportunity to fill out comment cards that will be given to the artist. The artists have loved reading these in prior years."

Dutch Country Soft Pretzels will have a food truck at the event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Funk is still working on confirmation from other vendors.

The show fits perfectly with the goals of the Milanof-Schock Library, Funk said.

"The mission of Milanof-Schock Library is to be a community resource that enriches lives through education, information, exploration and socialization," she stated. "The Student Art Show hits so many of those areas. It's been a joy for us to give the students of Donegal School District the opportunity to display their artwork and engage and connect with members of the community, and we are grateful to partner with Nolt Electric over the past several years as we've grown this event."

Last year, almost 300 people attended the show, she said, adding, "We received such positive feedback that when planning 2024 events, it was one we definitely wanted to continue."

She encourages people who have come to past shows to come back this year and also invites anyone who hasn't attended a show to check it out.

"The talent is amazing," Funk commented. "I'd encourage anyone interested in supporting the young artists in our community to come out and view their incredible creations."
