Anchor Club Wins Award

The Hempfield High School (HHS) Anchor Club, a youth service organization, was named Anchor Club of the Year by the Northeast Potomac District of Pilot International. The HHS club also earned second place for clubs with 41 or more members at the international level this school year.

The HHS Anchor Club helped with many service projects both in the school district and the community, such as organizing food and supplies that supported 44 families via the winter holiday giving project, writing pen pal letters and making videos for nursing home residents, writing over 260 cards to HHS staff for World Kindness Day, decorating HHS hallways to positively impact school culture, and making to-go meals at a local church. Several projects supported the club's sponsoring organization, Pilot Club of Lancaster.

The HHS Anchor Club is currently assembling 100 treat bags to provide to frontline workers at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. The club will continue to help at Hands-on House with outdoor projects throughout the summer.
