Advoz has planned trainings and events. An introductory training - Conflict, Communication, and Culture - will be held on Friday, May 8, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at S. Dale High Leadership Center, 1861 William Penn Way, Lancaster. The experiential eight-hour course aims to build on participants' existing wisdom to introduce language, concepts, and skills of healthy conflict resolution and restorative practices. A Circle Process Training will be offered from Wednesday to Friday, June 10 to 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. Attendees will learn to convene a circle process to build community and address tough issues and harmful incidents in groups of five to 20 people. Drawing from Indigenous traditions of inclusive and structured group process, the circle process requires facilitator skills both to conduct and trust the group's capacity for addressing its needs and challenges. This intermediate training requires previous completion of Conflict, Communication, and Culture; experience in Advoz's mediation and restorative justice programs; or equivalent training. A Community Circle will meet on Tuesday, May 5, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Neighbors Community Center, 450 N. Prince St., Lancaster. The theme will be "What Brings You Here?" Attendees will explore personal stories of motivation. Community Circles seek to provide a safe and welcoming environment where people from all walks of life may connect through conversation around various topics. Creative Crossroads will hold a concluding program on Sunday, May 3, from 3 to 6 p.m. at YWCA Lancaster, 110 N. Lime St., Lancaster. The program will focus on how people can use creative tools for constructive conversation to connect with the humanity and diversity in the community during a time of conflict, division, and isolation. The meeting will feature both facilitated dialogue by Advoz and audience storytelling aided by River Crossing Playback Theatre. In addition, attendees should bring a dish to share.
