Church Softball League To Present All-Star Saturday

The Manheim Church Softball League will hold its All-Star Saturday on June 21, with proceeds from the day benefiting two Manheim missions. The celebration will take place at the league's main field, the pool field, located adjacent to Manheim Central High School, 400 E. Adele Ave.

The day will feature two all-star games and a home run derby for the league's players, with events beginning at 3 p.m.

Several food trucks will be on hand, serving their specialties from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Vendors scheduled to appear are Rhyno BBQ; Catering with Attitude, serving hamburgers and hot dogs; Fry Shack; Twisted Sisters Ice Cream; and Amy's Mixing Bowl, which will offer baked goods. The food will be available by donation, with all proceeds split and donated to Teen Central Manheim and the Home on Ferdinand.

The Manheim Church Softball League is one of the longest continuously running softball leagues in Pennsylvania. The league started in 1953 as a fast-pitch league, but in 1973, with the slow-pitch game quickly gaining popularity, the league decided to implement slow-pitch rules. It has been a slow-pitch league for the last 52 years.
