Library plans February activities

The library will offer several ongoing programs. These activities include Knitting Club, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Feb. 3 and 17, at 10 a.m. and Tuesdays, Feb. 11 and 25, at 6 p.m.; Baked Books Club on Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.; Beginner Tai Chi Easy on Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 6:30 p.m.; Lititz Game Club, for players age 10 and older, on Wednesdays, Feb. 5 and 19, at 4:30 p.m.; Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County on Feb. 5 at 6 p.m.; Painting Club on Wednesdays, Feb. 12 and 26, at 12:30 p.m.; Great Decisions Discussion Group on Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m.; Exploring Growing Together Discussion Forum on Thursdays, Feb. 13 and 27, at 11 a.m.; Lititz Garden Club on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 6:30 p.m.; Writing Club on Feb. 17 at 1 p.m.; Jane Austen Society on Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 6:30 p.m.; the Lititz Art Association meeting on Feb. 25 at 6 p.m.; the Art of Your Energy Meditation Group on Feb. 26 at noon; and Accessible Yoga with Black Cat Yoga on Fridays, Feb. 7 and 28, at 10 a.m.

Members of the Blanketeers will gather to make blankets of various kinds for Project Linus on Feb. 4 and 18 at 2 p.m.

A private, pre-release screening of the movie "Banned Together: The Fight Against Censorship" will take place at the library on Feb. 11 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Lititz Historical Foundation will offer a program on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 1:30 p.m. Diane Whitcomb will present "The Healing, the Harmful, and the Quackery: Medicine in the 1800s." Attendees will learn about 19th-century medical care, treatments, and medications, as well as illnesses once prevalent in the Lancaster and Philadelphia areas, such as diphtheria and smallpox.

Swing Street will perform in concert on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 6:30 p.m. Swing Street is a jazz quartet that is based in Lancaster and performs a mix of mainstream jazz standards, some jazz adaptations of popular tunes, and a bit of smooth jazz.

The Red Rose Quilters Guild of Lancaster Embroidery Mini Group will meet on Feb. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The club focuses on machine embroidering.

The BYOB Book Club will meet on Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. Participants should bring a book they are currently reading.

A blood drive will be held at the library on Feb. 27 from 2 to 7 p.m.

During the Paws to Read program, children may read stories to trained therapy dogs. The program will be offered on Saturdays, Feb. 8 and 22, at 10 a.m.

Cruise Into Kindergarten will meet on Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Cruise Into Kindergarten is geared to children ages 3 to 6 and is based on the national Every Child Ready to Read program. After hearing a story, children and caregivers will visit stations intended to help with skills that children need to start school.

EducArt - Intercultural Music Learning will be offered on Feb. 17. Sessions will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. for kids 10 months to 3 years old and from 4 to 4:45 p.m. for children 6 to 8 years old. Children will sing, dance, and more. The program will have Spanish language components.

Special themed story times will be offered on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. beginning Feb. 5. The program is for preschool children ages 3 to 5, who should participate independently. During Lil' Crafters story times, from Feb. 5 to 26, children may enjoy art-related stories and make a simple craft. During Lil' Bakers story times, from March 5 to 26, children may enjoy food-related stories and make a snack.

The winter StoryWalk is "A Thing Called Snow" by Yuval Zommer.
