Rotary Club Honors Students

The Hershey Rotary Club has named its Students of the Month for January. The honorees are Reginald Chen from Hershey High School, Damien Lambert from the Milton Hershey School, Rachel Lyn-Sue from Hershey High School, Marco Ortiz-Sanchez from Middletown Area High School, Molly Strite from Middletown Area High School, and Emily Witmer from the Milton Hershey School. They are all seniors.

Reginald is the son of Yanfang Guan and Guoli Chen of Hummelstown. Reginald has been active with Science Olympiad, Youth, and Government and Link Crew. He was recently named an AP Scholar with Distinction and finished in second place in the Bucknell Invitational Math Competition. He has taken Advanced Placement courses in chemistry, biology, and calculus and is a member of the National and Math honor societies. Reginald plans to pursue a degree in mechanical/biomedical engineering.

Damien is originally from Allentown and has been at the Milton Hershey School since fifth grade. He is a member of the swim team, has interned with the school's IT department, and is a student ambassador with the admissions office. Damien has been an active volunteer in the school's morning announcement program. Most notably, he has become the face of Milt Morning Updates, morning announcements he produces each school day to provide updates on school functions and activities. His work in this area has led to his receipt of the Chairman's Medallion Award, given to students and staff members who demonstrate excellence and outstanding alignment with the school's sacred values. Damien plans to attend Penn State Lehigh Valley to major in information technology with the goal of working in the field of enterprise technology integration.

Rachel is the daughter of Esther and Jerome Lyn-Sue from Hummelstown. Her leadership positions have included president of Math Honor Society, vice president of the Care Club and Student Council representative. She won second place in the Regional Brain Bee in 2020 and 2021; received Honors Achievement Awards in Chemistry, Advanced Computer Science, Advanced Calculus, and Language and Composition; was a National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist; and received the Hugh O'Brian Leadership Award. She is a captain of the cross-country team and participates in track and field. Rachel has participated in the Hershey Medical Center Elder Life Program and is a Link Crew leader. She plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania to study chemistry.

Marco is the son of Graciela Sanchez and Jose Ortiz of Middletown. Marco has completed numerous Advanced Placement courses, including classes in human geography, biology, history, environmental science, government, and literature. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has participated in the Science Olympiad. Marco is a member of the Middletown cross-country and track and field teams and is involved with the student-run radio station, 91.1 WMSS. Marco recently received a National Hispanic Recognition Award from the College Board. He would like to obtain a degree in political science and eventually attend law school.

Molly is the daughter of Amy and Matt Strite of Middletown. Molly has been on the honor roll each quarter since her freshman year and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has participated in Science Olympiad and is a member of the Mini-THON Committee and Link Crew. Molly is a two-year captain of the field hockey team and a member of the ski club. She volunteers with Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Special Olympics, Ski Roundtop, and the Farm Show. Molly would like to attend Gannon University to obtain an associate degree in the radiologic sciences.

Emily is from Lemoyne and arrived at Milton Hershey School over nine years ago as a fourth-grader. Emily has been a volunteer and intern for the Beginning Horsemanship Program and a participant in the Milt to Milt program, in which high school students are assigned to an elementary student home to support younger Milton Hershey School students. Emily is a member of the National Honor Society. This past semester, she completed an internship in the elementary building with a second-grade class. During the current semester, Emily is taking a full load of classes at Elizabethtown College prior to her high school graduation in June. Emily plans to attend West Chester University to study secondary education with a major in English.
