In late 2020, the Manheim Township Education Foundation (MTEF) board of directors embarked on a strategic planning process, culminating in the formal approval of a three-year strategic plan at its November 2021 meeting. Through this process, the board identified several priorities to guide and shape MTEF's work through 2024, including leveraging its grant program, broadening brand awareness, building a robust fundraising strategy, deepening alumni connections, and establishing sustainable relationships throughout the district.

Margot Hoerner, a SCORE mentor, was instrumental in the strategic planning process. Over the course of several months, Hoerner led MTEF through a stakeholder survey, a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis, drafting sessions with MTEF's executive director, and discussions with the executive committee and full board.
