ABC Keystone Adds Program

The Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) has added Assembler, Pre-Engineered Buildings to its selection of Pennsylvania-registered apprenticeship programs. ABC Keystone worked with the Metal Building Institute to construct the program, which was approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry and accepted by the State Apprenticeship Council in September 2021.

The two-year apprenticeship program will be facilitated by the Keystone Apprenticeship Trust. Classes are scheduled to start in the fall of 2022, with the first graduating class receiving its completion certificates in 2024.

The program will provide education and training to fulfill the demand for pre-engineered building assemblers, who construct commercial metal structures using prefabricated framing and siding elements while utilizing skills and training in sheet metal working, ironworking, blueprint reading, structural design principles and safety. Prefabricated metal commercial buildings are widely utilized throughout the construction industry. This form of construction has been in use for over 40 years.

ABC Keystone educates individuals through Pennsylvania-registered apprenticeship programs in various trades. The earn-while-you-learn education programs allow participants to both work and attend classes.
