Parade Winners Announced

The results of the Solanco Fair Parade and Solanco Fair Baby Parade have been announced.

The parade categories and winners were FFA: Solanco FFA, first place; Scouting: Russellville Grange 91 and Cub Scout Pack 76, first; School-related: Homecoming Court, first; Commercial: The Barn of Nottingham, first; LH Brubaker, second; and Quarryville Veterinary Center team with a wagon, George, and foot escorts, third; Non-commercial: Croaking Frogs, first; Wreaths Across America - Quarryville, second; and Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community, third; Church - Sponsored: Calvary Independent Baptist Church, first; Wrightsdale Baptist Church, second; and New Providence Baptist Church, third; Fire Company/Ambulance: Bart Township Fire Company, first; Robert Fulton Fire Company, second; and Refton Fire Company, third; Equestrian: BB's Grocery Outlet, first; Medicare Cowgirls, second; and Rough Riders 4-H Club Quarryville, third; and Performance Group: Debbie's School of Dance, first; and Ignite Dance Company, second. Cash prizes were awarded.

In the baby parade, Best of Show in the Walking division went to "The Scarecrow," featuring Miles Troop, age 4, whose parents are Danielle and Robert Troop. Miles' float was also named Most Original in the Walking division. The Best of Show winner in the Floats division was "The Famous Signing of 1776," featuring Hudson Frackman, age 2, whose parents are Kevin and Marie Frackman of Paradise; the float also won first place in the Float division - Class 3 - Miscellaneous. In the Vehicles on Wheels division, the winner was "Two Scoops of Sweetness," featuring Gracie Trout, 6 months old, whose parents are Greg and Rachel Trout of Quarryville, and RJ Wiggins, 10 months old, whose parents are Sam and Katie Wiggins of Coatesville; the float also won first place in the Vehicles on Wheels - Miscellaneous category.

Awards were also presented within various divisions in the baby parade. In the Walking division, first-place awards included Best Characterization: "Cookie Monster," Delaney Stewart, 2 months, child of Tom and Paige Steward of Quarryville, and Best Team: "Little Red Riding Hood and Big Bad Wolf," Douglas and Oaklynn Osborne, ages 2 and 11 months, children of Adam Osborne and Brooke Hoffer, Holtwood.

First-place awards in the Float division were as follows: Class 1 - Best Characterization: "Happy Birthday, America," Parker and Harper Krishnakurup, ages 4 years and 1 year, children of Amanda Kreider and Prasad Krishnakurup of Strasburg; Class 2 - Miscellaneous: "Everly's Fresh Farm Market," Everly Dehoff, age 18 months, child of Carrie and Tristan Dehoff of Airville; and Class 2 - Mini Float - Best Carried Out Theme: "The Little Rascals," Mariah McMichael and Wyatt Phillips, both age 1, children of Sarah Clause and Bryanna Hess of Quarryville and New Providence.

In the Vehicles on Wheels division, first place for Best Carried Out Theme went to "You've Got a Friend in Winnie," Winnie Miller, age 2, child of Amy Todd of Quarryville. First place for Nursery Rhyme, Fairy Tale, or Story Book went to "Very Hungry Caterpillar," Elsie Eshleman, age 10 months, child of Clayton and Lexie Eshleman.
