4-H Horse Club To Offer Activities

The Windy Hollow 4-H Horse Club will begin a 4-H Horseless Horse project. Starting in February, the club will meet on the first Saturday of every month from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The meetings on Feb. 4, March 4, and April 1 will be held at the Romano 4-H Center, 1841 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook. The meetings on May 6, June 3, and July 1 will be held at Line It Up Farm, 375 Coffroath Road, Coatesville.

Participants in a 4-H Horseless Horse project can learn many facets of horse science and general horse knowledge. Workshops may include exploring colors and markings of horses, making model horse tack, identifying and handling horse equipment, and creating arts and craft projects.

The Windy Hollow 4-H Horse club offers 4-H members hands-on sessions that include describing or demonstrating horse safety guidelines; properly entering a stall or pasture; approaching, catching, and releasing a horse; grooming a horse and cleaning a horse's hooves; properly tying, saddling, bridling, unsaddling, and unbridling a horse; and identifying 30 external parts of a horse.
