The Hess Agency announces acquisition

The Hess Agency has announced the acquisition of Thome Insurance Agency in Elizabethtown, effective Jan. 1. Thome Insurance was formed in 1938 and grew to manage the needs of more than 2,200 personal and small business clients under the recent ownership of Jim Thome and Cindy Amick, grandchildren of founder Arthur Thome. Jim and Cindy are retiring.

Steve and Corey Faus, representing the fourth and fifth generations of The Hess Agency, respectively, aim to provide fast, friendly, fair, and accurate service and are excited to extend this commitment to their new clients with Thome Insurance.

The Hess Agency is a fifth-generation family-owned business and is approaching 100 years of service providing business, home, auto, life, and health insurance. It has grown from its roots in Mastersonville at the family grocery store to a team of 35 employees at its current location in a renovated 1800s farmhouse and barn just off Route 283 at the Mount Joy/Manheim exit. The Thome location will be closing.
