Mental Health Ministry Plans Workshop

The Columbia Catholic Mental Health Ministry will host a workshop on Wednesday, April 22, at 7 p.m. in the social hall at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 121 S. Second St., Columbia. The topic will be "Care for the Caregiver."

Guest speaker Matt Brown, a therapist at Ellie Counseling, will focus on those who care for someone with a mental, emotional, or other significant health issue and how it affects the caregiver. He will discuss how caregivers can fight burnout; work through guilt; incorporate healthy self-care; and explore available local resources to help caregivers navigate their care-giving and self-care journey.

Brown's professional background includes extensive experience in aiding those grappling with behavioral and substance addiction, trauma, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. His expertise is in creating lasting behavioral change and supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health concerns.
