Green Nation Indoor Celebration Planned

The Donegal High School color guard will host the Green Nation Indoor Celebration on Saturday, April 18, at Donegal High School, 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy. Doors will open at 10 a.m., and the first performance will begin at noon.

Forty-six units are scheduled to perform, including standing and marching percussion units, dance teams, baton twirlers, and multiple levels of color guard. Awards will be presented to each performing unit, and groups will be judged based on requirements set by the Tournament of Bands.

Donegal's color guard is under the instruction of Yasmin Moyer and volunteer consultant Hailey Hess, both of whom are Donegal graduates and former color guard performers. Thirteen students are currently members of the guard, ranging from eighth through 12th grade.

On Saturday, April 25, the team will perform at the Region 6 Competition held at Northern York High School prior to traveling to Wildwood, N.J., at the end of April for the Atlantic Coast Championships.

At the Green Nation Indoor Celebration, concessions will be available for purchase, including pulled pork, walking tacos, Buffalo chicken dip, vegetables, nachos, soup, and drinks.

Additionally, a "kudograms" table will feature candy and small gifts of encouragement for friends and family to purchase for performers. These will include wooden roses, mini flags, stickers, and key rings.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Donegal Music Association.
