Cruise Over To The Conestoga Classic Car Show

The First Responders Friends, a local nonprofit organization, organizes car shows to raise money for its local first responders. With the exception of 2020, the First Responders Friends has organized the Conestoga Classic Car Show every year since 2014, and a few months ago, it also hosted its inaugural Pequea Township Car Show.

The seventh annual Conestoga Classic Car Show will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This rain-or-shine event will take place at the Conestoga Volunteer Fire Company, 3290 Main St., Conestoga. Cars will begin parking at 8 a.m., and trophies will be awarded at 2:15 p.m. The show welcomes owners of cars, trucks, and motorcycles to register because trophies will be awarded in multiple categories.

Whoever would like to enter a vehicle in the show may register at a discounted price by Saturday, Sept. 18, or pay full price at the event. Everyone who registers will receive a free lunch, and the first 200 registrants will also receive a goodie bag and a dash plaque.

"It's not just a car show. It's a community event," stated First Responders Friends member April Perez. "People cook out in their yards, hang out all day, and see people they haven't seen for a while."

There will be giveaways and music. Food for purchase on-site will benefit the Conestoga Volunteer Fire Company. Car show T-shirts will also be for sale. The feature car on the T-shirt belongs to the late Robert Funk of Conestoga, who won the 2019 People's Choice Award. Robert's wife, Linda, will bring his 1960 Chevy to the show.

Eleven trophies will be awarded. These are best of show, sponsored by Frogtown Cafe; people's choice, sponsored by Run Valley Exteriors; best of Conestoga, sponsored by Melanie B. Scheid Funeral Directors & Cremation Services; best paint, sponsored by Custom Classics; First Responders' choice, sponsored by Pine Brook Farm Inc.; best truck, sponsored by Llads Ventures; 2000 and newer muscle car, sponsored by Lancaster Starter & Alternator Service; most original, sponsored by Ben Rice Excavating; best interior, sponsored by AutoGlass Works; best engine, sponsored by Denny's Camaro Parts; and best motorcycle, sponsored by Conestoga Wagon Restaurant.

"We couldn't do it without our local sponsors," said First Responders Friends member Melanie Scheid. "A majority help us each year, financially and physically." She added, "Lamar (Avertising) has been a great contributor to our show, running digital billboards for us for the last two months."
