Seven Sorrows BVM Parish to present live Nativity

Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) Parish, 360 E. Water St., Middletown, will present its second annual live Nativity on the parish grounds on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will take place in the church parking lot, which will be transformed into Bethlehem, the place of Jesus' birth.

Guests will be guided by the three Wise Men as they visit the Bethlehem innkeeper, shepherds, live animals, and the Holy Family - Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus. The live animals will be on campus for an extended visit this year, allowing for an immediate start time and longer time at the end.

Guests may enjoy enhanced decorations and storytelling while they journey in line toward the Nativity, passing by the shepherds in a field and Mary's house and visiting the home of a scribe who wrote the words of Scripture. They will also hear Christmas music performed by the band Forgiven and receive a free star-shaped soft pretzel.

Families are welcome, and the Children's Nook will keep kids busy coloring. Children may also pet the live animals, including bunnies, sheep, goats, a donkey, and a llama.

After visiting the manger, guests may stop by the fire pit for complimentary s'mores while supplies last; pet the live animals; visit the Bethlehem tents; and purchase hot dogs, chips, water, or hot chocolate.

Guests are also invited to visit the church and share prayer requests, which can be hung on the tree or placed in the prayer request box. Seven Sorrows parishioners will pray for attendees and their requests throughout the days leading to Christmas.

The live Nativity is free and open to the public. Parking is free and available in the school lots. Overflow parking is available at Giant, 450 E. Main St., Middletown, and along side streets. All visitors must go through the school's Door 4 to enter the queue.
