Students honored for good deeds

Lower Dauphin High School juniors Keira Cranford and Kyree Meeks-Long and Lower Dauphin Middle School eighth-grader Orion Ihme were recently recognized at school for doing the right thing. Lower Dauphin Communities That Care (LDCTC) and the Hummelstown Borough Police Department co-host the program, which is designed to provide community recognition for students' positive behaviors in school and in the community.

Keira and Kyree were recognized for identifying an issue and appropriately reporting it to school administration. Orion was recognized for helping a student with special needs who required assistance.

The honorees were recognized at lunchtime by their school's administrators, the police department, and the monthly program sponsor. Each winner received a gift card to Target; a Do the Right Thing T-shirt, pencil and certificate; and a Subway coupon. The sponsor for Keira's and Kyree's awards was the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. M&T Bank sponsored Orion's award.

Any adult may nominate a child for a Do the Right Thing award. For more information, contact Angela Durantine at angela@ldctc.org.
