Organ Concert To Support Capital Campaign

A capital campaign fundraising concert will be held on Sunday, Feb. 17, beginning at 3 p.m. in the newly renovated sanctuary of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 25 W. Springettsbury Ave., York. Organist Victor Fields will present a concert of music for organ and other instruments titled "Fields & Friends." The concert will be free and open to the public. Attendees will be encouraged to give a one-time donation to the "Building in Faith for Future Generations" capital campaign. The church's renovations are nearing completion. A basket will be available on the day of the concert to collect donations, and donations may also be directed to the church. The music selected for the concert will showcase the organ with flute, English horn, French horn, piano, soprano, and violin, and there will also be an organ duet. St. Paul's new organ console will be featured. Guest musicians will include Elizabeth Erenberg, flute; Jill Haley, English horn; Nelle Baily, French horn; Christine Kates, organ; Gretchen Dekker, piano; Erin Lippard, soprano; and Katelyn McClinton, violin. All of the guest musicians are friends of Fields, who has worked with many of them at York College and the Harrisburg Choral Society. Selections will include Moonyeen Albrecht's "4 Psalms," Calvin Hampton's "Variations on ‘Amazing Grace,'" Gardner Read's "De Profundis," Charles Callahan's "Fiesta for Two Organists," and David Conte's "Songs of Consolation." Also scheduled to be performed are "Prelude, Fugue and Variation" of Cesar Franck for piano and organ and "Abendlied and Gigue" for violin and organ by Joseph Rheinberger.
