Scouts help to fight hunger

Cub Scout Pack 37, along with Scouts BSA Troops 267 and 64, participated in the annual Scouting for Food event, a national event that has been held in the local area for at least 30 years. Participants placed bags or door hangers at local residences on the first Saturday of November and then returned the following Saturday to pick up any donations.

This year, with community support, Pack 37 took on the areas previously covered by another a Cub Scout pack, which was unable to operate this year. The added area nearly tripled the area covered by Pack 37, and the Scouts collected 3,581 pounds of food for the Hempfield Area Food Pantry.

Cub Scout Pack 37 is based in Salunga. For more information, visit http://www.pack37.com.
