LAMS sudents to take part in Serve-A-Thon

Lititz Area Mennonite School (LAMS) is making plans for this year's Serve-A-Thon, the reimagining of a 37-year tradition formerly known as Trash-A-Thon.

On Thursday, Oct. 5, more than 300 students from kindergarten through high school will serve at various local organizations, bringing action to two of LAMS core values - "Serving is our strength" and "Community is our commitment." Students will have the opportunity to engage with those outside of the school walls, gain exposure to a wide variety of careers and vocations and practice the message of 1 Peter 4:11, which is that serving through God's strength brings praise to Him.

At a Serve-A-Thon pep rally, the students enjoyed watching and participating in a variety of relay races that incorporated serving. The students were told which organization each grade level will be partnering with and are excited to represent LAMS within the community.

In addition to helping the community, the event functions as a fundraiser to help meet LAMS' operating budget and continue providing a quality, Christ-centered education. Students ask members of the community to sponsor them for this day of service.
