Elizabethtown's Lady Booters off to a 3-0 Start
The start of a new school year brings with it a new season of high school sports and the uncertainty of a fresh start. For the Elizabethtown girls' soccer team that uncertainty has given way to confidence that comes with a 3-0 start.
The Lady Bears' most recent victory came on September 1st when they topped Palmyra by a 4-1 final. Lily Heistand and Jena Witters split the scoring with Witters adding two assists to just one for Heistand. Erin Stoltzfus helped out with an assist of her own while Keegan Miller finished with four saves.
E-town opened the season on August 26th, topping Dallastown by a 2-1 final. Up next was a trip to Central York that resulted in a happy bus ride home thanks to a 5-1 win.
FIELD HOCKEY
The field hockey team has also come out of the gate smoking hot leading to a 3-0 start. Elizabethtown managed to slip by Garden Spot for a season opening win on August 29th, posting a 3-2 final. The Lady Bears ramped up the offense for a 4-1 win over Spring Groove on September 2nd and followed with a 4-0 shutout over McCaskey on the 6th. Reagan Flory fronted the offensive explosion, picking up three of the eight goals. Mikaela Condran helped with two goals and an assist while Kendra Griffie, Caitlin Steffie and Lyla Fair finished the scoring. Sydney Pope picked up all three wins in goal.
BOYS' SOCCER
The boys' soccer team is just three games into their 2022 season and already have covered all three outcomes. They kicked off the season on August 27th with a 3-3 draw opposite Dallastown and followed with a 4-3 loss to Palmyra to start September. The Bears covered the last of the three outcomes with a 2-1 win over Carlisle on September 2nd.
Jason Stark and Hayden Flory netted first half goals against Carlisle helping Tyler Bell turn in a seven save win. Bell turned away four shots in the loss to Palmyra with Max Gerhart finding the net twice in the opening half. Caleb Garcia tacked on an unassisted second half score, but it was not enough as Palmyra countered with two second half scores of their own.
GOLF
The 2022 golf team sits at 5-7 with the L-L Championship quicky approaching on September 26th. The Bears posted identical 2-2 records in their first two matches, August 11th at Overlook and August 16th at Sunset. E-town followed with a 1-3 day at Tanglewood on August 25th.
Abe MacDerment's 84 was E-town's lowest score for the day. Dylan Parise (86), Aiden Blyler (87) and Jared Louie (90) rounded out the top four counters.
CROSS COUNTRY
The cross-county teams did not start their season until September 6th but both sides enjoyed season opening wins. The boys blew by Garden Spot 17-44 with Jackson Kay leading a pack of Bears that occupied eight of the top 10 spots. Nicholas Mascia (2nd), Jaycen (3rd), J. Myers (5th), C. Dante (6th), B. Kreider (8th), Dalton Fink (9th) and Ethan Cronin (10th) all placed in the top ten.
The season opener was even better for the Lady Bears as E-town took nine of the top 10 spots, including Ali Fink's win, on their way to a 15-49 victory. Jordan DiRisio, Lilah Drager, R. Hess, Jillian Wivell, and K. Hein finished 2nd through 6th, respectively while G. Wolfe, C. Skora, and S. Gubbins rounded out the top ten.
VOLLEYBALL
If you are looking for a scorching hot start, look no further than the Elizabethtown girls' volleyball team. The Lady Bears are undefeated with all four wins coming via sweep. E-town also added a Big Spring Tournament win on September 3rd, going 11-0 on the day without dropping a set.
Elizabethtown cruised through pool play with a tidy 8-0 mark before knocking off Northeastern (25-10), Boiling Springs (25-7) and Big Spring (25-13, 25-19) to claim the tourney title. Hailey Oller was named tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Chloe Merkt and Paige Horst.

Oller has dished out 109 assists over the four wins with Liz Kerin (30 kills) and Chloe Merkt (44 kills) on the opposite end of the bulk of them. Paige Horst anchors the defense with over 50 digs.

New coach, no problem for the Elizabethtown football team. The Bears have kicked off the Keith Stokes era with wins over Donegal and McCaskey by a combined 93-42. The Bears opened the 2022 season on August 27th, knocking off Donegal by a 43-21 count in their annual backyard brawl.
E-town followed with a win over McCaskey on September 2nd, racking up 565 yards of offense on their way to a 50-21 victory. Logan Lentz was the star, accounting for 268 of Elizabethtown's 295 rushing yards and two of their three rushing touchdowns, adding a 21-yard field goal in the third for good measure.
Lentz scored both his TDs in the fourth, on runs of three and 37-yards while Hayden Haver picked up the other on a four-yard plunge in the opening frame. Braden Cummings scored the remaining three touchdowns, hauling in scores of 26, 25 and 26-yards on his way to a five catch, 128-yard game. Josh Rudy was behind the wheel and finished with those three scores and 270 yards.
