Library Posts Schedule

Milanof-Schock Library, 1184 Anderson Ferry Road, Mount Joy, has posted its upcoming programs. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free and require registration by visiting http://www.mslibrary.org or calling 717-653-1510.

Beginning on Friday, Sept. 9, the library will be closed on Fridays and open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Food Truck Thursdays will continue through October from 4 to 7 p.m. The schedule is listed on the library's website calendar and Facebook page.

Gently used books and media can be donated to the self-service shed behind the library on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Child, youth, and family activities will include story time for families at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays in September; Fun Fort Friday for families on Sept. 9 from 5 to 6 p.m.; Super Science for children age 4 and up on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m.; a Lego Challenge for families on Sept. 13 at 6 p.m.; and Fun Family Bingo for people age 7 and up on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 6 p.m.

The library's reading challenge for adults will return to a biweekly format; readers may visit the library or its social media pages for the topics. Programs for adults will also include Adult Game Night on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 6 p.m.; Closely Knit, for knitters and crocheters, on Mondays, Sept. 12 and 26, at 1 p.m., with no registration necessary; the Friends of the Library on Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.; Joyful Stitchers Cross-Stitch Club, for people of all skill levels, on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Adults-Only Bingo on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 2 p.m.; A Gathering of Artists Club on Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m.; Make-It Monday - "Paper Crafting With Kathy B." on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m., open to people age 13 and older; and Lit Lovers Book Club discussing "The Ride of Her Life: The True Story of a Woman, Her Horse, and Their Last-Chance Journey Across America" by Elizabeth Letts on Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m.

The library will host a quilt study every other month in the large program room, with this month's study taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 12:30 p.m.

A new writers' circle club for adults, Easy Writer Club, will gather on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m., with September's gathering set for Sept. 21. Writers of all levels, from beginners to published authors, are welcome, and they are asked to bring a piece of writing to share with the group. Registration is not required.

Frank Eppler will present "Life on a Nuclear Sub" on Monday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. Eppler will talk about his Navy experience with nuclear submarines and will answer questions. He has spent much of his life working in the nuclear field in both the military and commercial sectors. He has a master's degree in nuclear engineering and was an officer in the Navy's nuclear submarine program. He is currently the engineering manager on the Three Mile Island decommissioning project.
