Education Foundation Receives Donation

The Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation recently received a donation of $15,000 from the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown. The funds will be used to support and enhance the foundation's efforts to impact student learning at the Elizabethtown Area School District (EASD).

Mike Rowe, executive director of the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, presented the check to Joseph Murphy, foundation president, and Michele Balliet, EASD superintendent and foundation board member. This is the 14th consecutive year the Masonic Village at Elizabethtown has gifted the foundation $15,000, for a grand total of $210,000.

The Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that was established to provide a vehicle for individuals and businesses who want to supplement public education in EASD. The funds will support numerous efforts, such as EASD's career and workforce readiness initiative, including the high school's pre-apprenticeship programs and the new welding lab. Funds will also be used to underwrite the costs for high school students to take part in Attollo, a program that partners with local school districts to support students from diverse backgrounds in pursuing academic achievement, empowerment, and social engagement. Additionally, the foundation will provide innovative and unique educational opportunities for classrooms or programs in kindergarten through 12th grade outside the normal operations of the district.

Individuals and businesses may support the Elizabethtown Area Education Foundation by making a donation to this private, 501(c)(3) entity. All contributions to the foundation are tax-deductible. For more information, visit http://www.etownschools.org/foundation.
