Lions Club Posts Recycling Project

Members of the Hershey Lions Club, along with many Derry Township residents, are contributing to a recycling project. The Hershey Lions Club has also partnered with two other organizations to carry out the project.

For more than six months, the Hershey Lions Club has been collecting recyclable plastic bags. Collection receptacles were placed at the Hershey Public Library, 701 Cocoa Ave., and Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main St., Hummelstown. Accepted items include plastic shopping bags, plastic bubble wrap, newspaper delivery bags and similar products. Plastic bottles or other hard plastics are not accepted.

The collected bags will be recycled into park benches. The Hershey Lions can obtain one bench for 500 pounds of collected plastic bags within a six-month period.

Lions Clubs are groups of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. The Hershey Lions Club conducts in-person meetings at the Hershey History Center, 40 Northeast Drive, Hershey, on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:15 p.m. For more information, visit http://www.hersheylions.org and http://www.facebook.com/hersheylions.
