EAHS Plans Mini-THON

Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS), 600 E. High St., Elizabethtown, will hold its 13th annual Mini-THON on Friday, April 22, to benefit Four Diamonds. Mini-THON is a student-run organization that plans fundraising events during the school year, culminating with a dance marathon at the high school patterned after Penn State University's THON.

Due to COVID-19, this year's marathon will be seven hours instead of the traditional 12. The theme for this year is "Groovin' for a Cure." Starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, student dancers will participate in competitions, dance, sing, and play games while they remain standing all evening. The fundraising total will be revealed at 10 p.m.

In 2020, EAHS raised more than $85,000 with 100% of the money donated to Four Diamonds to support pediatric cancer research and help families of children with cancer to pay medical bills. This year's fundraising goal for EAHS is $90,000.

Family members and community members are invited to witness the Mini-THON from 6 to 10 p.m. on April 22. There is an admission fee, with a discount for students and no fee for children age 5 and under. Many of the activities will be included in the admission fee, and some activities will require an additional donation. Attendees are encouraged to dress in disco attire.

Members of the community may also commemorate or honor someone they know who has been affected by cancer by purchasing a lantern. A Lights of Hope luminaria ceremony will take place at 8 p.m. To purchase a lantern, go to https://fourdiamonds.donordrive.com/event/lightofhopelanternsales.
