Environmental Center Sets Events

Governor Dick Environmental Center, 3283 Pinch Road, Mount Gretna, will offer several programs. Participants should meet at the center. Programs are free unless stated otherwise. Pregistration is required by emailing governordick@hotmail.com or calling 717-964-3808 then leaving a name and phone number in case a program cancels.

A bouldering clinic, where participants can learn about the sport of bouldering and its requisite gear, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. There is a fee for this activity.

A nature journaling walk will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. Registrants are asked to bring a journal and to be ready to explore the outdoors and learn some sketching techniques.

A pawpaw hike will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn about the natural history of the pawpaw tree and what insect uses it for a host, and they will sample the pawpaw, known as Pennsylvania's largest native fruit. There is a fee.

The Golden Eagle Hikers will hold a 2- to 3-mile hike for people over age 50 on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 1:30 p.m.
