Hall Of Fame Will Induct Class of 2020

The Manheim/Manheim Central Hall of Fame seeks to recognize and perpetuate the accomplishments of people who have brought honor, distinction and excellence to the Manheim community. Eight people will be inducted into the Hall of Fame Class of 2020, which is being recognized this year due to cancellation of last year's event during the pandemic. The Hall of Fame banquet will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14, at Manheim BIC, 54 N. Penryn Road. A social hour will begin at 4 p.m., with dinner at 5 p.m. followed by the awards presentations.

The following people will be the inductees of the Class of 2020.

David M. Cooper, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL, is a 1983 graduate of Manheim Central High School. He spent 25 years in the Navy, including 19 years with the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, conducting combat operations throughout Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The late Loy C. Awkerman was locally known as "Doc Awkerman." He practiced veterinary medicine in Manheim for 42 years at Awkerman Veterinary Clinic, now White Oaks Veterinary Clinic. He was a charter member of the Manheim Historical Society and wrote several books on local history.

Eric Stouch, a 1989 graduate of Manheim Central High School, has spent his career in service to local, state and federal law enforcement. Since 1999, he has worked as a special agent for the United States Drug Enforcement Administration within the United States Department of Justice.

Sarah Lauch, a 1994 graduate of Manheim Central High School, is an Emmy Award-winning television reporter and producer. She currently works as the producer manager for NBC Chicago. She is also the founder and president of the nonprofit Live Like Roo Foundation, which supports animals that are affected by cancer.

Elizabeth Engle Eisenhofer is a 1996 graduate of Manheim Central High School, where she was co-salutatorian and a member of the swim team. She still holds four Manheim Central swim team records. She served as pharmacist at Williams Apothecary in Lancaster for 14 years and is currently employed by Esterbrook Pharmacy, West Reading.

Aimee Tucci Ketchum is a 1990 graduate of Manheim Central High School and is a pediatric occupational therapist. She currently practices in the neonatal intensive care unit at UPMC Hospital in Lititz. She is also the founding director of Aimee's Babies and creator of the STEM Starts Now digital parenting program.

Master Gunnery Sgt, Amanda Simmons is a 1996 graduate of Manheim Central High School, where she earned 10 varsity letters. She worked as a public relations specialist for a marketing firm before joining "The President's Own" United States Marine Marching Band as a public affairs specialist.

The late Bryan K. Lauch graduated from Manheim Central High School in 1995 and had a productive career as an artist. He was a ceramics instructor at the State University of New York, as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Carlow University.
