Stokes Wins Writing Contest

Conestoga Valley High School rising senior Jayden Stokes was named the winner of the Mid Penn Bank Juneteenth Youth Writing Contest. This contest was open to youths who were in grades eight through 12 during the 2020-21 school year, during which time they must have resided in one of 12 Pennsylvania counties, including Lancaster.

Entrants chose from one of two writing prompts: "What does Juneteenth mean to you?" and "Tell us about this important historic event with a story or by sharing your own thoughts." Poems, short stories, and essays were all welcome submissions to the contest, and both fiction and nonfiction were accepted.

Stokes received a cash prize.
