Park Rangers Schedule Cleanups

The Columbia Park Rangers held its annual meeting on Feb. 28 and announced several cleanup projects. The group also approved a $1,000 donation to the Lower Susquehanna River Keeper Association.

The Park Rangers, formed in 2001, is a volunteer organization dedicated to the beautification and maintenance of Columbia's parks and public areas. This year marks 20 years of service to the community.

Work details have been scheduled for the following dates: Saturday, April 10, at 8 a.m. at Locust Street Park; Thursday, April 22, at 5:45 p.m., Adopt-A-Highway cleanup on Pennsylvania Route 441; Saturday, May 1, at 8 a.m., tree trimming, with volunteers meeting at Glatfelter Memorial Field; Thursday, May 6, at 5:30 p.m. at Janson Park, located on Cherry Street; and Saturday, Dec. 11, at 8 a.m. at Locust Street Park. Volunteers are invited to assist with any of the cleanups. Tools, beverages and snacks will be provided.

In addition to its cleanup projects, the Columbia Park Rangers places U.S. flags in downtown Columbia on holidays and for special events throughout the year.
