What is the mission of Community Progress Council?

Community Progress Council (CPC) is York County's community action agency. CPC's mission is to empower individuals and families to move toward self-sufficiency and advocate for change to promote community growth. CPC provides programs and services to help low- and moderate-income residents of York County achieve financial stability.

Why is the organization excited to participate in Give Local York this year?

Give Local York is Community Progress Council's opportunity to raise valuable money to fund its new Self-Sufficiency Program, which allows the organization to partner with local residents to set and achieve goals aimed at moving them toward financial stability. For most participants, it's a long and difficult journey, but CPC and its Self-Sufficiency Program are there to help those living in poverty to live a life free of public assistance.

Give Local York provides not only funding for CPC but also great exposure as the organization works side-by-side with hundreds of other community nonprofits in making York County a better place.

In addition to its Self-Sufficiency Program, Community Progress Council provides a variety of programs and services including early childhood education, workforce development, housing and financial counseling, nutrition counseling (WIC), the Foster Grandparents Program, and Wrap-Around Child Care. Together, these programs provide low- and moderate-income residents with valuable resources to secure and sustain employment, safe and affordable housing, and reliable child care.
