Home Repair Program to Conclude

The Whole Home Repairs Program (WHRP) will come to end on Dec. 31. A partnership between Chester County and the Whole Home Repairs Coalition, the WHRP started in 2023 when Chester County designated $2.9 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to help low- and moderate-income homeowners make their homes safe, accessible, and healthy.

The Chester County Department of Community Development administered the WHRP through contracts with Good Works Inc., Habitat for Humanity of Chester County, Good Neighbors Home Repair, and the Housing Partnership of Chester County. As of Oct. 22, nearly 200 homes had been repaired through the program.

ARPA funding will expire at the end of this year. Funds for further housing repair initiatives are awaiting federal approval in connection with the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, which became federal law in July. The law addresses housing supply, affordability, and regulatory reform.

Even after the WHRP ends, homeowners who need essential repairs may visit http://www.goodworksinc.org, http://www.hfhcc.org, http://www.goodneighborshomerepair.org, or http://www.housingpartnershipcc.com for assistance.
