ASPIE Art Gallery Sets Open Houses

ASPIE, a nonprofit organization that creates supplemental income for adult artisans with disabilities, will hold open houses at its gallery, 1905 Barton Drive, Lancaster, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, Nov. 7 and 14. Artworks featured at the open houses will include paintings, photographic prints, metal sculptures, jewelry, original comic books, crafts, figurines, books, and stuffed creatures. Santa may be present for the festivities.

ASPIE's group of artists features 16 new members, including eight from Lancaster. New members also hail from other areas of Pennsylvania, as well as New York, Florida, California, and Pakistan.

Featured local artists include David Allen, Trish Barsby, Lu Bohn, Jesse Buckwalter, Patricia Caulfield, Malcolm Corley, David Fogell, Steven Georges, Dorrin Gingerich, JP Henry, Carly Long, Evie Mann, Kate Manners, Vaughn Miller, Danielle Newman, Katelyn Schaefer, Mary Schultz, Jonathan Whitlock, and Ryan Zinnanti. The upcoming open houses will also feature works by artists from partner organizations, such as Schreiber Center for Pediatric Development, InSight Arts, and United Disabilities Services.

ASPIE helps its member artisans generate income through donations for their original artworks using the online ASPIE Gallery, located at http://www.aspieartists.com, and the in-person gallery in Lancaster. Open houses offer opportunities for community members to browse a collection that is different from the online gallery, take home artworks, and interact with the artists. Donors make it possible for the artists to show their work and grow more independent.
