Shop Local at Pleasant View

Start your holiday gift-giving or treat yourself at the Auxiliary of Pleasant View Communities Annual Craft Bazaar. The bazaar will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Kreider Farms Cultural Center, 547 N. Penryn Road, Manheim, and in the main building of Pleasant View, 544 N. Penryn Road. Admission is free, and the event promises something for everyone, said Pam Hoffman, auxiliary president.

"Our craft bazaar features handmade crafts from a wide variety of talented makers. With over 115 tables and 85 makers, this is one of the best local indoor bazaars of the season," she said. "Customers will be able to shuttle between the main building, Kreider Farms Cultural Center and Esther's Collectibles Thrift Boutique; enter to win door prizes; and enjoy the fall foliage."

Vendors will include woodworkers, pottery, stained and fused glass, original art, authors, cards, the Red Rose Quilters Guild, knitted and embroidered items and more.

The residents of Skilled Care will have a table with items they made as well, selling watercolor paintings, bracelets, bookmarks and other handcrafted items.

"The bazaar is also unique because attendees can shop at Esther's Boutique for affordably priced clothing, jewelry, household items and more," said Mindy Fetherman, development director, adding that the on-campus boutique will be open the same hours as the bazaar. "Esther's stocks an additional room of items for bazaar day."

The Hoffer Farm, located at the Pleasant View campus, will have a table of items for sale.

"Hoffer Farm will be selling various wool products that are processed from the wool of our alpacas right here on the farm," said farm manager Olivia St. Clair, who noted that the farm is home to six alpacas. "We will have a variety of skeins of yarn available in different colors which are the natural colors of the alpacas. We leave all of our yarn naturally colored and nondyed so individuals can use the yarn and enjoy the beautiful natural color in their projects and see the exact alpaca that it came from."

In addition to yarn, Hoffer Farm will sell wool roving for felting projects, including dryer balls and needle felting, as well as wool pellets for gardens and houseplants. The pellets help retain soil moisture, replenish nitrogen and provide a natural mulching alternative. All products come from the raw wool processed at the fiber mill, ensuring every part of the wool is put to use.

"This process highlights the sustainability that we put forth in our mission at the Hoffer Farm: to be able to use all pieces of the raw wool, let none go to waste and provide a resource for a variety of hobbies," St. Clair said.

Pleasant View 70th anniversary cookbooks and Riptide Car Wash tickets will also be sold at the bazaar.

Shoppers who work up an appetite can enjoy a variety of food items.

"Our food menu this year features Peters' pork barbecue, John F. Martin hot dogs, Martin's potato rolls, Dieffenbach's chips, beverages from Zern's Beverage, hot apple cider and other hot beverages, whoopie pies, pumpkin rolls and a sell-out favorite - Moravian sugar cake," Hoffman said. "Additionally, customers will find the Philly Pretzel pop-up stand in Town Square."

Also, Hearth and Harrow, the on-site restaurant at Pleasant View, will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The bazaar is made possible through the support of several sponsors, including Premier Sponsor Interior Fancies, which will have a table at the event, and Gold Sponsor Gallagher Lancaster.

Proceeds from the bazaar are used to benefit residents in all levels of care and provide funding for Pleasant View programming.

"In 2026, the auxiliary has provided $25,000 for benevolent care as well as equipment for skilled care and personal care nursing staff, a new Ping-Pong table, books for the PV library and equipment for the wood shop," Fetherman said. "The auxiliary sponsored a food truck for staff for Nursing Home Week and provided $2,000 in seed money for two 'wishes' to be granted to residents for PV's new Pleasant Moments initiative."

This year, the auxiliary has set a goal of raising $10,000 to benefit residents through the craft bazaar.

Hoffman said the quality of the makers, the pastoral setting and engaging volunteers make the Pleasant View bazaar unforgettable.

"Each year we focus on the customers' experience by providing an inclusive, affordable, family-friendly event," she said. "This is our No. 1 fundraising event to support residents in need at Pleasant View Communities. Our volunteers are committed to this mission of service and support. Several of our makers return each year and say this is one of their favorite shows."
