History Lecture Posted

Historic Rock Ford, 881 Rockford Road, Lancaster, will continue its Untold Stories of the Revolution Lecture Series with "The Frank Brothers and the American Revolution" on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will be held in the Langmuir Education Room on the first floor of the barn.

Shirley L. Green will present information from her book "Revolutionary Blacks: Discovering the Frank Brothers, Freeborn Men of Color, Soldiers of Independence" and Green's research on her family's connection to the American Revolution. The book follows the lives of Green's ancestors William and Benjamin Frank, two brothers who enlisted in the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment during the Revolutionary War. Green explores their story to provide context for the Black experience during the war.

Green received her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Toledo and her doctorate in history from Bowling Green State University, where she is now an adjunct professor of history. She is also the director of the Toledo Police Museum, and she was a Toledo police officer for 26 years.
