Students Join Foundation Board

The Hempfield Foundation has welcomed Hempfield High School juniors Brady Schoelkoph and Rosa Subedi as new student representatives on the foundation's board. Both will bring student perspectives to the foundation's work supporting classroom innovation, scholarships, and educational opportunities across the Hempfield School District. The board also includes senior student representative Kirryn Quispe-Cochran, who joined last year.

Student representatives participate in board discussions, contribute to foundation activities, and help connect the organization with the students it serves while gaining experience in nonprofit leadership and community service.

Schoelkoph founded the stage crew club at Hempfield High School and serves as captain of operations for the Hempfield Marching Knights. A trumpet player since fourth grade, he is also a member of the symphonic band and participates in school video production through Hempfield Happenings. In his application, he emphasized representing students across different grade levels, activities, and interests.

In her recommendation of Schoelkoph, Hempfield High School English teacher Kristen Wickenheiser noted the student's maturity, humility, respectfulness, and friendliness, as well as his work ethic and willingness to challenge himself academically.

Subedi has experience in school media through the Hempfield Flash, public speaking, athletics, and student leadership. She was Miss Lancaster Teen USA 2025 and is involved in the Sisterhood Club. In her letter of interest, she described a commitment to listening to classmates with different experiences and helping students understand the Foundation's work.

She received recommendations from teacher Alicia Mitchell and biology instructor and secondary science coordinator Kathryn Miller. Mitchell noted that Subedi exhibits listening skills, kindness, and consideration and that she values different perspectives. Miller praised Subedi's work ethic, collaboration, and adaptability.
