The 24th annual Washington Boro Heritage Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Washington Boro Park, 2010 River Road, Washington Boro. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Blue Rock Heritage Center.

Heritage Day will include craft vendors and flea market stands. Food will be available, including chicken corn soup, hamburgers, and hot dogs. Desserts will include a wide range of pies, cookies, and treats, such as pumpkin pie.

Free hayrides and barrel train rides will be available throughout the event. All children ages 5 to 12 are welcome to compete in the children's pedal tractor pull, which will begin at 11 a.m. Children may also enjoy face painting and crafts, with some activities sponsored by local churches.

Frogs, Fangs and More will present a program at 1 p.m. The hands-on program will feature various animals and will run approximately one hour, including time for questions.

Classic cars and farm equipment will be on display, and individuals are welcome to bring their cars on the day of the event. There is no fee to display a vehicle.

Representatives of the Lower Susquehanna Archaeological Society - a chapter of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology - will be present to identify local Native American artifacts, as well as to display local artifacts. Circle Legacy will showcase native American crafts and offer the opportunity to feel local animal furs.

Local bluegrass band Dillweed will perform from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Adjacent to the Park, Penn Manor High School's Manor FFA will host a tractor pull, with proceeds benefiting the organization's scholarship fund. Food and drinks will be available at both sites, and a free tractor hayride shuttle will provide transportation to each area.
