Girls on the Run (GOTR) Lancaster-Lebanon has announced the return of its end-of-season 5K Celebration, scheduled for Saturday, May 16, at 9 a.m. at Greenfield, 1838 Colonial Village Lane, Lancaster.

The noncompetitive, family-friendly 5K serves as the culminating end-of-season event for local Girls on the Run participants, as well as community members. Girls on the Run combines physical activity with engaging lessons to help participants build confidence, foster healthy relationships, and develop vital life skills. Over the course of the 10-week program, participants prepare to complete a 5K, while learning how to navigate emotions, grow as a team, and make a positive impact in their communities.

Organizers expect more than 2,500 runners, which includes 1,130 GOTR participants and their 5K buddies, as well as hundreds of community members. The celebration will feature music, "happy hair" stations, a sponsor village, and warmups.

Registration is open to the public, and all proceeds will benefit GOTR Lancaster-Lebanon. The registration fee includes an event shirt for all community runners and 5K buddies. Each GOTR program participant will also receive a commemorative medal to celebrate her achievement. Community members may pick up their packets at the GOTR office, 1062 Manheim Pike, Lancaster, on Wednesday, May 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. and May 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. and at Greenfield on Friday, May 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. and May 16 from 7 to 8:30 a.m. GOTR participants do not need to pick up a packet; their packets will be at the event.

The event is not chip-timed and is focused on celebration and completion rather than competition.
