Penn Rise Advisors will host its annual Bonfire and Brews Festival on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 4 to 10 p.m. at its office, 3000 Lincoln Highway, Parkesburg.

This year will be Penn Rise Advisors' fifth edition of the festival, which was previously known as the Fire and Wine Festival. Proceeds from the festival benefit two local fire companies, the Keystone Valley Fire Department (KVFD) in Parkesburg and the Sadsburyville Fire Company.

"It's an interesting event, because we're not an organized nonprofit," said Candice Klingmann of Penn Rise Advisors. "It's basically a bunch of people in the community getting together and making it happen."

There is a cost to purchase tickets to the event. A ticket provides entry, as well as a door prize entry and one Suburban Brewing Company specialty draft if purchased by Thursday, Oct. 15. Tickets will be sold at the door for a slightly higher price as long as capacity limits allow.

The event is weather dependent. Ticket sales will not be refunded. The event is limited to people age 18 and over; IDs will be checked on-site. No outside food or alcohol is permitted, and no animals are welcome, outside of certified service animals.

Food vendors will be available at the event, including the Suburban Brewing food truck. Sadsburyville Fire Company will also have a tent, selling chili and corn bread.

Two musical outfits will perform at the event, both of which have donated their time for the festival. Pete Marziano will play from 4 to 6 p.m., while West Chester band 4th Base will play from 6:30 to 9 p.m. 4th Base primarily does rock and alternative covers, as well as some original songs.

Klingmann said that she is still searching for sponsors for the event. Benefits of sponsorship include signage at the event and placement in social media posts. For more information on sponsorship, contact service@pennriseadvisors.com.

Several baskets will be drawn at the event, provided through KVFD. Specifics on the baskets are not yet available. For more information about the festival, search for "Bonfire and Brews Festival" on Facebook.

KVFD will also host an open house event on Monday, Oct. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the company, 329 W. First Ave., Parkesburg. The event coincides with National Fire Safety Month and will feature apparatus displays, CPR demonstrations, car seat installations and KVFD demonstrations, as well as food and refreshments.

"We're going to invite some guests, like the Department of Emergency Services' hazardous materials unit in Chester County, the Parkesburg Police Department, and then some of our local emergency medical service providers," said Brian Gathercole, KVFD deputy fire chief. "Then we'll just have an open house if you come in and some kids' activities."

The Keystone Valley Fire Department was formed in March 2013 with the consolidation of the Parkesburg, Pomeroy and Atglen fire companies. The station provides fire rescue and EMS services to Parkesburg Borough, West Sadsbury Township, Sadsbury Township and Highland Township.
