The 2026-27 Lancaster International Piano Festival (LIPF) season will open with "An Evening of Chamber Music" at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, at The Trust Performing Arts Center, 37 N. Market St., Lancaster.

Pianist Xun Pan will accompany two musicians from the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra (LSO): violinist Dana Allaband and cellist Sara Male. The group will perform selections by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Astor Piazzolla, and Clara Schumann.

Allaband, a native of Minersville, earned degrees from West Chester University and the University of Maryland. She has performed in Venezuela, Romania, and Cameroon; at Carnegie Hall; and at universities across the U.S. Besides being LSO's principal second violinist, she has performed with various chamber and symphony orchestras in eastern Pennsylvania. Her interests span genres from rock to tango, and she regularly performs as first violinist with Philadelphia singer-songwriter Andrew Lipke and the Azrael String Quartet, as well as with One Alternative. Allaband coaches chamber music each summer at the Bear Crossing Chamber Music String Camp and Vermont Music and Arts at Lyndon State College. She is an adjunct professor at Albright College and maintains a private violin and viola studio.

Male earned degrees from Victoria Conservatory of Music, Rutgers University, and Mannes College of Music. As a chamber music recitalist and soloist, she has performed in major venues in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Asia. The founding cellist of the Lancaster-based Newstead Trio, Male also co-founded Duo Chiaroscuro, an ensemble dedicated to making music available to those on the autism spectrum or with other distinct needs. Besides her work with the LSO, Male is principal cellist of the York Symphony Orchestra and plays frequently with other symphony and chamber orchestras. A private teacher, her students over the past 25 years have won competitions, performed with regional orchestras, and been selected to play in master classes for members of the New York Philharmonic and others.

Chinese-American pianist Pan is a soloist, chamber musician, and educator whose performances have taken him to major concert halls and festivals around the world. Recent activities include collaborations with the American String Quartet, Hai-Ye Ni, Peter Winograd, Fabiola Kim, and the Gabriel Chamber Ensemble, as well as a performance of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1 with members of the LSO at the 2025 LIPF. In 2026, he completed a concert tour spanning England, Italy, China, New Zealand, and the U.S. He was inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame in 2023. Pan holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Rutgers University and serves as director of keyboard studies at Millersville University. He is also a founding member and co-artistic director of LIPF.

Three additional piano performances will complete this year's LIPF. All concerts will take place at 7:30 p.m. at The Trust Performing Arts Center. The performers will be Jiarui Li on Saturday, Nov. 14; Tania Tachkova and Ivo Kaltchev on Friday, March 19, and Eric Fung on Friday, April 16.
